The first week of May is the golden week in Japan and my husband is having his holidays from May 3. So we decided to cover the important places in Nagoya in two days. We planned our trips to Nagoya Castle, Osu-kannon temple, Atsutha Shrine and Motoyama temple on the first day.
We took a one day pass worth 600 yens per person for the Nagoya city subway from the Chikusa station and started our journey to Atsuta Shrine.

We reached Sakae via Higashiyama line from here we have to change to the Meijo line. We get out of the station with no particular intensions other than to see the sky of Sakae. One we got outside, we saw a beautiful park nearby. Looking from there, we could see the TV tower at some distance.

The program arrangements in progress at the center hall of the building. |
We walked towards the tower . On the way, there was a building with quite beautiful structure like that of a spiral. It has so many shops housed in it and a hall at the centre. Some people were arranging things for a program that might be conducted here after some hours.
We saw people walking around some pool on the glass - terrace of the four-floored building. We also reached the top of that building by lift . The sight from there as so enchanting, we could see almost the entire Sakae city - the flyer, the tv tower and the great buildings. The terrace is filled with water at the center.
About the tv tower.
The tv tower has an interesting structure and it is the oldest Television tower in the whole island of Japan. It was built in 1950s . It is 180 meters high .The tower performs dual functions of television transmission and it is the first observatory balcony of Japan. The tower transmits television signals to about five television stations and it has found its way in the celluloid with the movie Godzilla vs. Mothra in which the character Battra attacks Nagoya and is shown destroying the tower after being assaulted by missiles from the tanks. The Nagoya TV tower observatory presents some breathtaking views of the city and beyond, which includes the likes of Nobi plains, Ise Bay, the Suzuka and Yoro Mountains. There are nearly four hundred and thirty steps to take you from top to bottom and is open throughout the year except when weather is not favorable.
